That really sucks. but your dog didn't lose the fight. It had a very long life. it loved and was loved. That sounds like having a winning life to me.

I've had a few beagles. The oldest made it to 16. They are little dogs with lots of guts.

My advice: get a new dog as soon as possible.

Rod,

A dog's loss is always something hard as they are family members and spend many years with us. As Musher said, 18 years was a really long life in which I am sure you have great memories to keep into your heart.

Even if getting a new dog soon could be an idea, take your time to make the best choice, even if this means to wait a little before getting the new 4 legged family member.

Take care and my best thaughts are to you for this hard moment...
