As many of you know, GK Calls has a strong affiliation with the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary in Kingsville, ON. This year the Sanctuary will be celebrating Jack Miner’s 150th birthday!
Jack Miner became the founder of the migratory waterfowl refuge system by creating the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary in 1904. It is located on the Miner property in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada.
Five years later he pioneered the banding of migrating waterfowl; the recovery data was instrumental in the establishment of the Migratory Bird Treaty of 1916 between the United States of America and Canada as no government banding programs had been in existence at that time.
The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation was established in 1931 in the United States and in 1936 in Canada to continue the good work of Jack Miner. The Foundation is a charitable organization that operates solely on grants and the generosity of private and corporation donations. The Board of Directors and staff are responsible for the ongoing operations of the Foundation.
In 2004, GK Calls came out with a commemorative goose call to help raise money for the Jack Miner Sanctuary. In doing so, we have raised over fifteen thousand dollars that went directly back into the sanctuary. We are pleased to announce that we will be releasing a Limited Edition Commemorative Duck Call in honor of Jack’s 150th birthday. This call is brand new design from GK, and has great range!
There will only be 150 of these calls made and each will have a unique serial number.
Price – The call will cost $150 USD. We will donate $50 from the purchase of each call directly back to the Sanctuary! Each call will have a serial number, starting at JM000 – JM150
